Race Unity Speech Competition

During the lockdown, I participated in the Race Unity speech competition. Normally, we would come together and present our speech on an evening where the judges and audience would watch us say our speech. This year, we did a Zoom meeting and presented our speeches there. I felt really awkward on our first few practices but as I practiced more and more, I got used to talking to a screen. I didn’t place but I am still so proud of myself because it was a personal learning experience and I found out things about my heritage that I never would have known. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and the other contests did very well too. -Aomi Irani
