The first week of school was an opportunity for whanaungatanga as we welcomed new students and staff to our school in a powhiri.
The rain that morning didn't dampen our spirits as we kicked off our activity week. New students were assigned to one of our school's four waka groups, and in small groups they were led out by our Year 13 students. The Year 12 students ran the activities for these groups. Activities included tramping, mountain biking, bush survival skills and water activities. Friday we also had a powhiri at Turangawaewae Marae to reinforce our mutual relationship.
Students will be encouraged to draw on these experiences throughout the year to help with motivation and perseverance throughout their 2021 schooling journey.
