The chess team qualified for nationals once again this year, and were finally able to go compete down in Christchurch. This was the first time they had gone in a few years. The team consisted of Aomi, Te Oranga, Alexis, Dante and Jahvana. It was a really great experience and we had lots of fun. This trip brought us closer together as a team. A few of our players placed top 25% in all of New Zealand. The highlight of the trip was being able to gain more skills, create new friendships and get more professional recognition. Many players from our school had boosted up to a higher rating from playing so well. A big thank you to Mrs West and Matua Jerry for all the support they have contributed in us this year.
