Building Paper Towers in Maths Class

In Maths class this term, the Year 9 and 10 students had two challenges building towers with only 12 sheets of paper and 1 metre of cello tape. The first challenge was to build a freestanding tower as tall as possible, and the second challenge was to build a tower over 40cm tall that could bear the most weight. Students were creative and competitive as they considered the strength of different shapes in their construction. The tallest tower was over 2 metres high, and the strongest supported 40 workbooks!
